FAQ
What do you make the food from?
The food is made from polymer clay, it is a clay with a plastic base and with this we can introduce plastic resin for things that appear to contain a liquid substance. The food is therefore inedible but will not fade or disintegrate. What scale do you work in?
We generally work in 1/12th scale. A 12 inch diameter birthday cake would be 1 inch diameter in miniature. We also work in 1/24th scale so the birthday cake would be ½ inch in diameter. We can make in 1/48th scale also but some detail may be lost.Do you accept commissions?
Yes! Andi loves doing commission work. You will need to provide an idea (preferably a picture or a photo) of what you would like and stipulate which scale you need it reproduced in. We will contact you with a quote before any work commences. Current workload will dictate how long the piece will take but we will keep you informed of the progress. Can you replicate any wedding cake?
Yes! Simple or extravagant we can do it for you. Just contact us for a quote.
Do you make real wedding cakes and occasion cakes too?
Yes! We work in conjunction with a company called Cakesy and Bakesy. Cakesy and Bakesy have a combined experience of over 20 years in baking and cake decorating. Also based in Maidstone, Kent, 'Cakesy and Bakesy' work with Miniature Cafe to offer their clients the opportunity to own a scale replica of their special cake. That means that once the day has passed, you can have a permanent reminder of the day. It is something that has proven very popular and is a wonderful way to preserve your memories.
